Construction Projects
Integrated Education Building
In 2004, the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) successfully
passed a bond initiative that awarded funds to GateWay Community College to build
a student services center, library and classroom building to meet the needs of the rising student population.
Initially, funding was allocated for three separate buildings -- one to
house student services, another to be used as classroom space, and the third
for the campus library and computer commons. After some consideration, it was
determined that one larger facility would lend more square footage. The
resulting Integrated Education Building (IEB) measures 120,000 square feet
and will feature:
Academic Spaces
- Classrooms
- Faculty and staff offices
- Indoor and outdoor art studios
- Library
- Science labs
- Learning center
Student Services Spaces
- Cafe
- Performance space
- Career services
- Enrollment services
- Counseling
- Disability support services
Planning and designing for the IEB began in 2010 and the groundbreaking ceremony was held in March 2011.
