Welcome to the Office of the President. Dr. Eugene Giovannini has served
as the President of GateWay Community College since March of 2002.
Biography of Dr. Giovannini
Since March of 2002, Dr. Eugene Giovannini has served as President of
GateWay, our urban community college of 16,000 annual student enrollments
and a skill center with 6,000 annual student enrollments. The College
employs over 500 faculty and staff members, and serves as one of the 10
colleges in the Maricopa Community College District.
Experience
Dr. Giovannini was previously the Vice President at Burlington County
College in Pemberton, New Jersey, from 1995 to 2002. He was responsible for
all academic and student affairs programs and services, as well as community
services, and credit and non-credit programs at a multi-campus community
college.
From 1990 to 1995, Dr. Giovannini served as Dean of Instructional Affairs
and, subsequently, as Interim Director of Student Services at Ivy Tech State
College-Southwest, Evansville, Indiana.
Educational Background
Dr. Giovannini holds a Doctor of Education degree in Community College
Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University at
Blacksburg, Virginia. In addition, he has done post-doctoral work in
Executive Education at Wharton Institute for Research on Higher Education at
the University of Pennsylvania. He holds both Master of Education and
Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Education from Bloomsburg University
at Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
