Honors Program

Scholarships

The following scholarships are available only to academically gifted honors' students who are enrolled in the fall or spring semesters. These funds are to assist students in reaching his/her educational objectives.

Please Note: Financial need is only a requisite for the Hedin Scholarship.

Chancellors Scholarship

One year full, in-county, tuition (up to 18 credits/semester), plus $250 each semester for books and supplies. Only one of scholarship will be awarded. Recipient is selected by the GateWay Honors for Excellence Committee.

Maricopa Foundation Scholarship

$500 ($250 per semester).
Two of these scholarships will be awarded. Recipient is selected by the GWCC Honors for Excellence Committee.

Betty Hedin Elsner Scholarship

$200 ($100 per semester). Must demonstrate financial need. One recipient is selected in the District by the Maricopa Colleges Foundation.

Presidential Scholarship

This scholarship covers tuition, registration, and course/lab fees up to 15 credit hours for four consecutive semesters. Apply now.

Criteria

Students must meet the following requirements for consideration:

  • Must be enrolled in the honors' program.
  • Must be willing to enroll and complete at least 12 credit hours or more at GateWay, per semester, for the duration of the scholarship.
  • Must have taken at least 12 credits at GateWay with a G.P.A. of 3.25 or higher.
  • Must have completed the Honors Program and Project Contract and returned all requested supporting documents by the first Friday in March.

Deadline

5:00 p.m. on the First Friday in March.

Instructions

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Obtain needed signatures.
  3. Submit the signed application to the Honors Coordinator.
