Testing

Overview

The Student Testing and Assessment Center provides academic and vocational testing to help students accomplish their educational goals. Testing services are located in Room SO-1100 of the South building. Please note: Tests are not administered within three hours of closing.

Testing Services

  • ASSET Course (Timed) Placement Testing
    Course placement testing is available for english, reading and mathematics. New or continuing students and students with no college level credit in these three subject areas can test on a walk-in basis. If you plan to apply for financial aid and have not earned a high school diploma or GED, you must take all three tests in the same sitting. Study materials can be accessed through TestSoup. Testing times are on a walk-in basis during the following times: Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Friday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm (Fall & Spring semesters). Testing during the summer is offered Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • English as a Second Language (ESL or CELSA) Testing
    CELSA is a written test only, used for course placement into the English as a Second Language Program for both English and reading. This test takes 45 minutes to complete and consists of 75 multiple-choice questions. The test does not include a listening or spoken portion. The scores and recommended course placement are given to the student immediately upon test completion. Testing is available on a walk-in basis on Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Friday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm (Fall & Spring semesters). Summer tests are offered Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am -5:00 pm.
  • GED (General Education Diploma)
    For information on free GED classes call (602) 254-0265 or (480) 517-8110 or view additional GED Testing Service information online. The cost of the exam is $90.00. Testing times are Tuesday & Thursday 10:30 am - 2:30 pm.
  • Health Curriculum Courses (Competency Assessment)
  • Selected Instruments for Health Sciences
  • Instructor & Make-Up Exams
    Testing times are on a walk-in basis during the following times: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and Friday, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm (Fall & Spring semesters). Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm during the summer.
  • HESI A2 & HESI PN Exam
    The cost of the HESI A2 is $37.00 and the cost of the HESI PN exam is $46.00. Testing times are Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am - 1:00 pm (closed Fridays during the summer).
  • Health Curriculum Core (HCC)
    Fees vary and eligibility must be verified by A&R. Testing times are on a walk-in basis during the following times:
    Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm (Fall & Spring semesters).
    Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm during the summer.

Proctoring or correspondence testing is available for non GateWay students. The proctoring fee is $20.00.

Assessment Policies & Procedures

  • Referrals to the Assessment Center are made by program advisors, counselors or faculty members.
  • Complete and submit a Student Information Form prior to testing. Forms are available at Admissions and Records.
  • A current picture ID is required.
  • Email or call us at (602) 286-8160 for further information.
  • Submit the optional Customer Satisfaction Evaluation by the end of the semester.
