P.I.P.E. Members Benefit from Computer Training by GateWay

P.I.P.E.The Piping Industry and Education Trust Fund (P.I.P.E.) has partnered with GateWay to offer their members computer training in 2007 Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Power Point. Beginning this month, Microsoft Office software programs will be taught to pipe fitters at their facility in west Phoenix, through March, 2009.

Employers will choose a convenient time for their employees to train, and GateWay will in turn hold four-hour seminars on Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point.

The basic and intermediate classes were originally scheduled to be held on Wednesdays, however, the demand from participating firms was so great that additional classes have been added on Mondays. This allows small companies to send just one or two people to get additional education. P.I.P.E. is helping individual members to grow their businesses. GateWay has also partnered with the Arizona Tooling and Machining Association providing a Leadership and Management course for their members which they received college credit.

P.I.P.E. offers other courses also in management, safety, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and foreman training. The Arizona Pipe Trades Joint Apprenticeship program also partners with GateWay to offer apprentices college credit toward completion of a Certificate  of Completion or an AAS ( Associate in Applied Science degree).

If other associations are interested in offering training for their employees they may contact Nance Harris of Business Outreach at 602-286-8026 or harris@gatewaycc.edu.
