Campus Celebrates International Education Week November 16-20

Students, staff and faculty members are invited to celebrate International Education Week from November 16-20 with a week-long calendar of events that promote the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

International Education Week, which is sponsored by GateWay’s International Intercultural Education Committee, features guest speakers representing countries across the globe and an introduction to the benefits of international education. The week is part of a national initiative sponsored by the U.S. Departments of State and Education to better prepare Americans for a global environment and attract students from across the globe to study and exchange ideas and experiences in the U.S.

During the GateWay events, faculty and staff who were born or who have studied abroad will be on hand to share their experiences.

"For both students and staff members, International Education Week provides an opportunity to learn from each other and learn about the different cultures and educational experiences," said Mauro Da Fonte, healthcare faculty member and coordinator of International Education Week events. "Several members of GateWay faculty and staff are foreign born and educated and will be presenting slide shows from their very own experiences in those particular countries."

International Education Week activities include:

  • Monday, Nov. 16, 12:00 - 1:00 pm: "Education Experiences Across Cultures," a panel discussion presented by GateWay faculty & staff
  • Tuesday, Nov. 17, 12:00 - 1:00 pm: A presentation about international education in Japan, presented by Kyoko Olson
  • Wednesday, Nov. 18, 12-1 p.m.: A presentation about international education in Brazil, presented by Monica Wadsworth-Seibel

Please Note: All activities are scheduled to take place in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), MA-1220.
