Archaeology
Overview
Archaeology is the study of the ancient human past, a sub-fieled of
anthropology. The field is concerned
with human existence since the advent of culture.
Culture began at the point where humans made artifacts. Artifacts would
become evidence to reveal the mysteries of often extinct cultures and
societies. Current thinking in archaeology applies the lesson of the past to
the present and to the future.
Courses
We offer the following archaeology courses:
- Buried Cities and Lost Tribes of the Old World
- Buried Cities and Lost Tribes of the New World
These courses introduce students to archaeology through fieldwork
discoveries and the researchers involved. Students can take one or both
classes and no prerequisites are needed. Service learning options are
available at the City of
Phoenix Pueblo Grande Museum in place of completing a research paper for
each class.
