Carpentry Apprenticeship
Overview
Carpentry is the largest construction trade in the industry, assuring a
positive employment outlook. Carpenters work with many tools and materials
to build houses, erect skyscrapers, construct bridges, tunnels, highways and more.
Job duties involve every step of the building process, from reading
blueprints to building and removing forms. Career advancement opportunities
are strong, with many carpenters becoming carpentry supervisors, general
construction supervisors or independent contractors.

Employment Outlook
Apprentices earn 50-55% of the Journeyman hourly wage, receiving wage increases throughout the
training period, as coursework and training is completed. Apprentices move up in status, earning
the full Journeyman wage upon receiving the Journeyman card.
Employment demand is high in carpentry, and expected to grow in the
future.
On average, carpenters earn an hourly wage of $10.87 to $30.45, for an annual
salary range of $22,610 - $63,336.
