Plaster/Cement Masonry Apprenticeship
Overview
Plaster & cement masonry involves working with concrete and flatwork; roadwork, bridges,
and dams; interior and exterior stucco EFIS wall finishing; and artisan
finishes.
Continued job growth is expected in this field, as cement is used more
frequently in construction projects. Cement masons can often work overtime
for premium pay because once concrete is placed, the job has to be finished.
With additional education, plasters and cement masons can go on to manage
projects or practice their trade independently.
Employment Outlook
Apprentices earn 50-55% of the Journeyman hourly wage, receiving wage increases throughout the
training period, as coursework and training is completed. Apprentices move up in status, earning
the full Journeyman wage upon receiving the Journeyman card.
Employment demand is high in this industry, and expected to grow
in the future. On average, plasterers and cement masons earn an hourly rate of $10.02 to $27.07,
for an annual salary range of $20,842.00 to $56,306.00.
