Practical Nursing Fast Track
Overview
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are an integral part of the healthcare
team, providing patient care and emotional support for people in need. LPNs
work under the direction of Registered Nurses (RNs) to administer medication
and perform treatments.
Being an LPN requires a lot of compassion, as it will be your
responsibility to provide basic bedside care for patients who may be
experiencing substantial pain and discomfort.
The FTPN certificate program combines nursing theory lectures with
planned patient care learning experiences in hospitals, nursing homes and
health care agencies, providing students with the theory and skills required
to practice as a practical nurse in acute care, extended care, and
intermediate care settings. This is a separate nursing program within the structure of the Maricopa Nursing program.
Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination
(NCLEX-PN) to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
Employment is found in hospitals, clinics, private homes, extended care
facilities and nursing homes.
