Web Development involves the process of creating web sites. Many
components need to be created in coordination with one another in order to produce a
successful web site. Such components include web design, content, business
strategy and programming.
Web developers have many options in choosing a career. Many specialize in
1 area upon exploring career opportunities. Internet-related careers are
generally divided into 3 areas:
- Creative: Involves web development, web page design, basic
programming skills, editing, management of database handling and more.
- Technical: Focuses on infrastructure of the
Internet, involving technical support for users within a corporation or
business.
- Business-related: Utilizes sales and marketing
skills in B-2-B environments, dot-coms and specialized services.
Web Developers can earn additional certifications such as the Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW),
a program designed to validate the development of web design skills.
