Overview

Women's Studies classes explore politics, society and history from a woman's perspective, critiquing societal norms of gender, race, class, sexuality, and other social inequalities.

Class topics include:

  • The history and development of gender roles
  • Human rights
  • Global social issues
  • Social research
  • Dialectical thinking (learning through the contrasting arguments of opposite opinions)
  • Metonymic thinking (learning how to get past dialectical arguments)

Courses

GateWay offers many Women's Studies courses starting with WST100 "Women and Society." This course examines critical issues in women's studies and requires no prerequisites. Other courses include topics such as:
