GateWay's Boone Ebel and Carrie Weldy took home runner-up honors at Saturday's Artichoke Invite at SCC. Carrie held on to second place from start to finish, beating out the next girl by nearly a minute with a personal record of 19:18. Taylor Stewart, a freshman at Mesa, took top honors in 18:58 over the 3.1 mile course.  The GateWay women littered the top spots, with Hollie Tice finishing fourth in a mega PR of 20:20.  Brook Vance wasn't too far behind in ninth place with her best ever of 20:36 and Melissa Guthrie came on strong, smashing her own record while earning 11th in a time of 20:51.

The men's 8K race was littered with GateWay personal bests as well. Daniel Suber, a junior with the ASU Running Club, had just enough in the tank at the end to sneak by Boone.  Though finishing second overall (27:37), Boone made short work of all the junior college competitors, again distancing himself from the next runner by 30 seconds.  The men saw tremendous improvement overall, with Travis Farland (30:02), Devin Bloom (31:12) and Charles Hursh (32:34).

Both teams will travel to Villago Park for the ACCAC Championships on September 30.
