As a Cosmetologist student instructor, you will prepare to provide instruction such as shampooing and conditioning, cutting, coloring, perming, and styling hair. Additionally, you will learn how to write and deliver a successful lesson plan. You will graduate from the program with the skills necessary for establishing and maintaining an affective classroom. Topics also include knowledge of laws pertaining to cosmetologists, safety and sanitation and state board regulations. Upon completing the Cosmetologist program, you will be prepared to take the Arizona Board of Cosmetology Instructor licensing exam.
Successfully completing your hours with a score of 80% or higher in the Cosmetology Program guarantees you a certificate but does not guarantee you a Cosmetologist Instructor License (in any state).
Students must have a current and valid AZ cosmetology license and show one year of salon work experience. Applicants must have Social Security Number or Tax ID card for State Board licensing exam. Students must provide a HS Diploma, GED or high school transcript with a minimum of 10 credits, 2 of which are in English and a state issued picture ID. Training is based on industry standards and graduates will meet requirements to obtain their license from the Arizona Board of Cosmetology.
