Bricklaying Offers Rewarding Career Opportunities

The bricklayer apprenticeship is one of the oldest apprenticeships in Arizona. At GateWay, our bricklaying program is part of the Bricklaying and Allied Craftworkers (BAC), the oldest union in the USA. Our apprenticeship opportunities offer college credits and traditionally turn out many of the top journeymen bricklayers in Arizona. Upon graduation, many of our apprentices are promoted to foreman status, which is a testimony to their hard work and to the quality and experience of their instructors.

In 2006 our program was awarded the "Most Outstanding Program in Construction" in Arizona, a prestigious award given by the Arizona Apprentice Advisory Committee. Many of our outstanding apprentices have competed in regional and national contests and have placed in the top three on almost all occasions. Most recently Mike Momeyer took the title in Las Vegas on February 3, 2009 for the second year straight. 

The GateWay bricklaying committee is dedicated to maintaining the training of our apprentices to the highest standards. We are continually inviting our best journeymen to the training facility as a constant reminder for our apprentices of the quality journeymen we produce. New materials are donated on a regular basis by our contractors and their suppliers to keep the apprentices updated with any new application methods for the industry.

Bricklaying offers rewarding career opportunities and our program provides the apprentice with health and welfare insurance for themselves, their spouses and children.  Apprentices also have the benefit of two pensions upon retirement, both of which are paid for by their contractor. A good wage structure with frequent raises makes this a rewarding career to enter into.
