9 New Recruits Join GateWay Soccer

With
12 of last season's 19 women soccer players
graduating this spring, recruitment for strong
players is in full swing. 6 new recruits were recently added
to help fill the roster.
Ana Jimenez, a 5’4” forward
from Mesa Red Mountain and the Arsenal 91 Select
Club team, will join the Geckos in the fall and
will begin studies in Nutrition.
Terra LaMastres, a right defender and 2010 graduate from Mountain Ridge High
School in Glendale, will join the team in the fall
and begin the highly acclaimed Nursing Program
at GateWay.
Class of 2010 graduate from Greenway High
School in Phoenix, Julie Redus, will come to the
Geckos in the fall. The 5’7’ forward also played
with the Cisco Club Team and has yet to declare
a program of study.
Aesthetics major, Sabrina Clarke, will join
the Gecko’s this fall after she graduates from
Mesa High School this spring. Clarke, a 5’2”
central defender, also played with the Arizona
Youth Soccer Organization.
Bridget Nicolai will also join the GateWay women's soccer team this
fall. A 5"2 forward graduating this spring from Buckeye High School, she
intends to major in Kinesiology.
Rounding out this wave of recruits is Alyssa
Fajardo, a 5’7” forward from the 2010 graduation
class at Camelback High School in Phoenix also
joined the team.
Fajardo also played for the United Girls Club
Team and plans to become a social worker.
3 for the Men
Alex Villanueva, a 5’11” forward will
graduate from Basha High School this spring and
join the Geckos in the fall. Villanueva
plans to study medicine.
Pavel Carrasco, a
Criminal Justice major and 2010 graduate from Washington High School and join the
Geckos in the fall. He is a 6’1’” central
defender and brings mounds of experience from
playing with the North Scottsdale Club team.
The 3rd newest addition for the men’s soccer team is Victor Muñez, a 6’
stopper from Camelback High School. Graduating this spring, Muñez will join the
Geckos this fall and has yet to declare a major.
