Dual Enrollment

Welcome! We're excited to have you as a GateWay Gecko student

Getting an early start on your college education can definitely pay off later on, and we’re here to help you get that early start. In fact, studies show that students experience greater academic success in college when they complete dual enrollment courses in high school.

When you take dual enrollment classes, you’ll be earning high school and college credits at the same time. Plus, you’ll gain the experience of being a college student. GWCC partners with Valley high schools to offer dual enrollment credit for academic and occupational classes. The courses are taught on high school campuses by college-approved high school teachers and can be counted toward high school graduation requirements.

Need assistance? We are here to help.

Steps to Enroll

As a first-time student, the process will include applying for admission to a Maricopa Community College, setting up Duo two-factor authentication, determining placement or college readiness, completing the Next Steps Form, and paying tuition and fees.

If you have taken a college class before, you are already in the system. You also have an established MEID and can skip to Step 3. If you attended another Maricopa Community College, log in to the Admissions application to add GateWay Community College to your existing student account.

Before you begin, make sure you gather the following documents:

  • Acceptable forms of identification (example: AZ driver's license or state identification or high school ID with birth certificate)
  • Review the school class list and class prerequisites and take note of the following:
    • Term, Course, Class #, Class Hour, Instructor, Credits (example: Fall 2022, ENG 101, 12345, 1st hour, Jones, 3)
    • Documentation or assessment may be required for college course placement (example: High school transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, EdReady placement test).
  • Parent or legal guardian contact information and consent to enroll.

Note: Right-click the hyperlinks and select “Open in New Window or Tab.”
