Herb Wildey was born and raised Flagstaff, Arizona. While an undergraduate at Northern Arizona University he began teaching zoology labs and has been working in a teaching capacity ever since. He obtained his BS and began work on his MS, also at NAU, focusing on behavioral ecology in intertidal crustaceans. He began teaching at Mesa Community College in 2004, and since then has held positions at Arizona State University-West and Phoenix College. He was first hired at GateWay in 2014 as an adjunct and then as full time residential faculty in 2016. His current interests are focused on integrating research opportunities into his introductory biology classes.

When not focused on his job, he likes to watch and play basketball and star wars, figure out '90s rock songs on bass guitar, and spend time with his family watching sunsets, preferably where the desert meets the sea.
