Dr. Rice began his academic journey at Garden City Community College where he played football for the Broncbusters. He received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a Minor in Physical Education from Emporia State University, Emporia Kansas. His Master of Science in Physical Education with a Specialization in Sport Psychology was completed at the University of Idaho. His master’s thesis “After the Final Snap: Cognitive Appraisal and Coping Among Retired Collegiate Football Players” integrated his interest in psychology and his experience retiring from collegiate athletics following an injury.
Dr. Rice’s Doctor of Philosophy Counseling Psychology is from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. His dissertation “Life Satisfaction: It’s Relationship to Cognitive Appraisal and Coping” served as the foundation for a career in psychology, business, and project management that led to his current position as Year Up Program Director at GateWay Community College and Faculty in the Business and Information Technologies Division.
