About/Bio

Saroj Chirravuri

Dr. Saroj Chirravuri was born and raised in Delhi, India and moved to Arizona in 1998. She has an MS in Biotechnology and a Bachelor of Science with a Microbiology Major, from India. She has an additional Masters degree in Natural Science from Arizona State University and a Doctoral degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. Saroj got her start in teaching as a graduate student at ASU and then later worked as an adjunct at GateWay Community College from 2004-2019. She worked briefly as an OSO and then was hired as residential faculty in 2020. Her experiences as an Introductory Biology teacher got her motivated to work on a doctoral thesis about the attitudes of students in Math taught in Biology classes and the role of active learning in the process. Teaching Microbiology is her greater passion and currently she is developing undergraduate research projects for her Microbiology students. Her other interests include learning Indian classical dancing and reading
