Human Library Virtual Event

Human Library Event

INCREASE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND REDUCE PREJUDICE

The GateWay Community College Library and the Buxton Library (Paradise Valley Community College) invite you to become a human book. Everyone has a story to tell! With the Human Library, you can become a Human Book and tell your story at GateWay and Paradise Valley Community Colleges’ Virtual Human Library event, held entirely online and open to everybody.

The Human Library is a space for Human Books and readers to openly discuss varying topics. These discussions can break down biases readers may have, as well as learn more about new ideas, ways of being or thinking, or struggles that make up the human experience.

With the Human Library, presenters get to be the Human Books and tell their personal stories, which will, in turn, be checked out by members of the audience, also known as readers. These stories can focus on personal biases you’ve overcome, identity struggles, or personal stories of growth.

“The Human Library is an innovative method designed to promote dialogue, reduce prejudices and encourage understanding.”

Each session will be 30 minutes in length. The actual presentation time will be 15 minutes with 10 minutes allotted for questions from the readers.
