Technology Support Specialist Apprenticeship

The Technology Support Specialist Apprenticeship is designed to provide fast, quality training in the classroom followed by paid, on-the-job training with local employers. Apprentices will prepare to enter the IT field by learning to analyze, troubleshoot, and rectify day-to-day technology challenges. Upon completion of classroom training, apprentices will be placed with local employers and assigned an on-the-job mentor to hone and perfect their new skills.

As a Tech Support Specialist, you may assist new employees set up their workstations, troubleshoot weak WiFi connections, obtain permissions to access files, and provide exceptional customer service. Application Process

Prior IT experience is not necessary to be part of this exciting new program. However, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or hold a GED. For consideration, follow these steps:

  • Submit a completed Application 
  • Submit a transcript from prior institution
  • Meet all requirements of the application process
  • Interview with college staff
  • Attend a program orientation

Program Requirements

While in the program, apprentices will be required to pass two core exams covering:

  • Security skills for IT support professionals
  • Device operating systems including Windows, Max, Linux, Chrome OS, Android, iOS and cloud-based software
  • Troubleshooting core service and support challenges
  • Supporting IT infrastructure and networking
  • Support PC and mobile device hardware
  • Implement data backup and recovery

Technology Support Specialist Program

This program is an intensive, deep dive into the Information Technology field. Apprentices will commit one year to the program, including 14 weeks in the classroom followed by paid, full-time employment with a local company for the remainder of the year. Shifts may vary by employer.
