Electrical Journeymen
If you have earned a Journeyman card from a registered Electrical Apprenticeship, you may be eligible to receive college credit for the learning and expertise you already have toward an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Construction Trades: Electricity degree.

If eligible, you will receive 48 credits for prior learning. You must complete a minimum of 15 credits toward the requirements for the AAS degree at GateWay Community College.

Get Started
In order to receive Credit for Prior Learning, you will need to:
- Submit a valid Electrical Journeyman Card to the GateWay Apprenticeships Office at gwc.apprenticeships@gatewaycc.edu with the subject line “Electrical Journeyman Card for Verification.” They will contact the AZ State Office of Apprenticeships and verify that your Journeyman Card meets the requirements
- Upon verification, meet with an Advisor to:
- Become an active GateWay Community College student with an eligible Construction Trades: Electricity AAS degree listed as your declared major. GateWay holds One-Stop Sessions for advising, placement testing, enrollment, applying for financial aid, etc. When we have verified your Electrical Journeyman Card we will send you the link.
