The Development Office at GateWay is responsible for implementing and executing private fundraising activities for the College. Private funds supplement traditional revenue sources of tuition, property tax levies and state aid that account for only 50% of the College budget.
As one of the 10 colleges within the Maricopa County Community College District, private contributions to GateWay are tax deductible through the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation. Through on-going efforts, private contributions benefit all areas of the College including:
- Student support services
- Innovative academic programs
- Updated training equipment and well-maintained facilities
- General college support needs
Leave a Legacy
All contributions are tax deductible through the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation, the 501(c)3 non-profit organization designated by the Maricopa County Community College District to act as a trustee for donations and assures that gifts are distributed in the manner specified by the donor.

About the Campaign
The Learn Move/Live Better Annual Fund campaign is a multi-dimensional effort to support student success and top-notch academic programs, while addressing the critical needs of higher education. The goals of this annual effort include, among others:
- Secure additional resources for student scholarships.
- Increase available funding to start new and support existing academic programs and services.
- Maintain and update high-tech training equipment, technology and facilities.
With the cost of college on the rise and state and federal investment in education significantly decreasing, private funds are crucial to GateWay's mission of providing affordable, accessible, high-quality education for all students.
The value of a community college education is seen in workplaces across the Valley and throughout the state. From Nurses, to Water Technologists, to IT professionals, your gift to GateWay helps to keep college affordable for students and supports the training of future industry professionals.
All aspects of college including tuition, textbooks, advanced training equipment, computers and expert technology, supply and material costs, are increasing. It is all of our responsibility to support higher education and avoid passing the burden of such costs on to students.
Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation
The Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation is the 501(c)3 non-profit organization designated by the Maricopa County Community Colleges District to receive and manage gifts on behalf of its 10 colleges, 2 skill centers and multiple satellite centers.
Tax Deductible Contributions
Contributions to GateWay are tax deductible through the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation (MCCF). Beginning on January 1, 2009, MCCF began charging a 1% fee against all new gifts received except gifts to establish or add to an endowment fund.
Also beginning January 1, 2009, and each January 1 thereafter, a fee of three-quarters of 1% (75 base points) will be charged against all funds under MCCF management. Fees like this are common and necessary to help offset increasing costs.
