Pipefitting Journeymen

If you have earned a Journeyman card from a registered Pipefitting Apprenticeship, you may be eligible to receive college credit for the learning and expertise you already have toward an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Construction Trades: Pipefitting degree.

  • If eligible, you will receive 48 credits for prior learning. You must complete a minimum of 15 credits toward the requirements for the AAS degree at GateWay Community College.

Get Started

In order to receive Credit for Prior Learning, you will need to:

  1. Submit a valid Pipefitting Journeyman Card to the GateWay Apprenticeships Office at gwc.apprenticeships@gatewaycc.edu with the subject line “Pipefitting Journeyman Card for Verification.”  They will contact the AZ State Office of Apprenticeships and verify that your Journeyman Card meets the requirements.
  2. Upon verification, meet with an Advisor to:
    1. Become an active GateWay Community College student with an eligible Construction Trades - Mechanical Trades: Pipefitting AAS degree listed as your declared major. GateWay holds One-Stop Sessions for advising, placement testing, enrollment, applying for financial aid, etc. When we have verified your Pipefitting Journeyman Card we will send you the link.
