Matt Costello

Prior to starting his journey at GateWay, Matt Costello had tried numerous career paths. From being a bartender, to working in emergency medical services, his eclectic work background convinced him he needed a change.

After discovering the Massage Therapy program at GateWay Community College, Matt was sold. “Program Director Mr. Tapscott and Instructor Mr. Ybarra made a great first impression with me at my initial appointment,” Matt said. “After meeting with them, the choice was clear. The massage program at GateWay was perfect for me.”

As he went through the program, he immediately faced the challenge of balancing his existing job with his new schoolwork. “Class started early, and I typically worked late the night prior. What that did though was provide a learning experience, I had to prioritize my schedule to make school come first.”

He also discovered he was learning more than just Massage Therapy.

“The program also provided life lessons, such as respect, gratitude, and patience. I still practice gratitude every morning. I frequently reference the massage literature and employ the lessons within my company,” said Matt.

Matt completed the program in August 2018 and went on to receive his Arizona State Massage License. Moving into a career in the healthcare field he was passionate about, Matt’s future looks brighter than ever. “The quality of my life has increased exponentially. Now I have a successful career, strong relationships both professional and personal, and above all else, I’m happy, healthy and living with vitality,” added Matt.
