Kristina Scott

GateWay Community College announced the appointment of Kristina Scott as interim vice president of Student Affairs, effective Sept. 13, 2021.

Ms. Scott started her career with Maricopa Community Colleges 19 years ago and has worked at Estrella Mountain since 2016. While there, she has served as the Director of Student Services and Dean of Students - Retention. During the summer, she filled the role of Acting Vice President of Student Affairs at EMCC. Prior to her current role, she served as the Director of the SouthWest Skill Center and held a similar position at the former Northwest Skill Center, now known as the Deer Valley Campus.

“Her experience within Maricopa Community Colleges, and GateWay, have made her an ideal candidate for this role,” said Dr. Amy Diaz, interim president of GateWay.

Her extensive educational and professional development has provided a broad outlook on organizational structure, change management, diversity, equity and inclusion, strategic communications, and student success. Additionally, she is a strong advocate for underserved and underrepresented students and increasing accessibility options within student learning.

“I am passionate about cultivating dynamic partnerships and building effective teams, and am committed to supporting diverse student populations and spearheading initiatives that positively impact student success,” said Scott.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas, a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, and was accepted into the Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation program at Arizona State University.  She expects to complete her doctorate in 2023.
