HSI Week

GateWay Community College is proud to celebrate our fourth Annual National Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Week from September 9 - 13, and we invite you to join us for a week filled with opportunities to connect, learn, and engage!

What is HSI Week?

National HSI Week, established by the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU), honors the significant role that Hispanic-Serving Institutions like GateWay play in increasing access to higher education for traditionally underserved communities. This week is about recognizing the strides we’ve made together toward advancing equity and celebrating the diversity that enriches our campus.

GateWay: A Legacy of Service and Empowerment

Since being designated as an HSI in 2009, GateWay has proudly supported a diverse student body, with over half of our students identifying as Hispanic today. With a deep commitment to fostering student success, GateWay is honored to be a majority-minority institution, continually building pathways for students from all backgrounds to thrive.

Celebrate With Us!

Throughout the week, we’ll be highlighting the inspiring stories of our staff, faculty, and students. You’ll also get to see the transformative work being done through initiatives like the DEI Center, GANAS program, and the ÉXITO Title V Grant Program, all of which aim to support and uplift our students.

Whether you’re attending events, engaging with us on social media, or simply reflecting on what it means to be part of an HSI, this week is about celebrating the power of community, diversity, and opportunity.
