First In Her Family To Finish High School
Seraphine was born in Tanzania and came to the United States when she was 7 years old, at the time she was enrolled in school in her home country. One thing Seraphine noticed, there were very few girls in her class. As Seraphine began school here and started to learn, she realized she has had the opportunity to learn that many others in her country never would have.
She identified this as an inequality that she wants to someday change. Through the assistance and support of her teachers and professors at GateWay, Seraphine has had the opportunity to not only be the first in her family to finish high school, but also achieve an associate degree.
Seraphine says that its due to the rigor of the school and the higher expectations, she has been able to reach farther and dream greater than she might ever have done elsewhere. Seraphine’s dream is to transfer to ASU where she plans to finish a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Business Administration.
Seraphine wants to work in a sales environment that she hopes will support her entrepreneurial spirit and give her the chance to help those girls in her home country to achieve the education they deserve.
