What is TRIO SSS?
GateWay Community College TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) exists to support first-generation college students, low-income students, and students with disabilities. We remove barriers to promote college persistence and completion through personalized, intentional, and proactive guidance. Fostering an environment where students feel seen, supported, and confident in their goals.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Enrolled at GateWay Community College with a minimum of 6 credits.
- Demonstrate a need for academic and college resource support.
- Meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Low-income background
- First-generation college student (neither parent/guardian holds a four-year degree)
- Registered with the Disability Resources & Services (DRS) Center

Core Program Deliverables
Once accepted into the program, students receive comprehensive, individualized support at no cost:
- Academic Tutoring & Advising: One-on-one subject tutoring, academic advising, and course selection guidance.
- Financial Aid & Literacy: Direct assistance with the FAFSA, scholarship navigation, and economic literacy education.
- Transfer Planning: Strategic 2-year to 4-year university transfer planning, including college campus visits.

- Student success experiences and academic enrichment activities
- Career exploration, resume development, and networking prep
