Follow these steps to enroll in the Healthcare Regulatory Compliance program at GateWay Community College.

Step 1: Attend Mandatory Healthcare Virtual Information Session 

All applicants must attend a virtual information session before moving forward in the admissions process.

Meet with a Healthcare Advisor

Meeting with a Healthcare advisor is strongly recommended. You will receive instructions on how to schedule an advising appointment during the virtual information session.

Step 2: Complete Your Admissions Application

If you’re new to GateWay or the Maricopa Community Colleges, or if you need to reapply, click the button below and follow the instructions to complete your admissions application:

  • New Students: Click "Join Now" to create an account.
  • Returning Students: Click "Log In" and enter your MEID and password. If you do not
    remember your MEID or password, select “Forgot your Username?” and/or “Forgot your
    Password?” for assistance.

Duo Two-Factor Authentication 

After completing your admission application, you will need to set up Duo two-factor authentication. Click on the link to set up your Duo two-factor authentication account.

Step 3: Request Transcripts

If you have completed previous college or university coursework, or if you plan to use your high school transcript for placement, you will need to request that your transcripts be sent directly from the institution to GateWay's Admissions, Records, and Registration Office.

How to Enroll in Your Classes

Follow the steps below to register for your courses:

  1. Use Find a Class to search for your courses and select Open Classes Only.
  2. Record the section numbers for each course you plan to enroll in.
  3. Log in to your Student Center and select the Manage Classes tile.
  4. Use Class Search and Enroll to complete your registration.

Step 5: Payment Options / Funding

You must have Financial Aid or a payment plan set up before your program start date.

Students who do not arrange payment in advance may be dropped from their classes for non-payment.

Important Reminders: 

★ Regularly check your Maricopa student email and Student Center for updates on payment balances and deadlines. 

★ If you’ve applied for financial aid, check for any pending "To Do List" items that may delay your award. 

★ Your seat in the program is not secured until your funding is confirmed. Failure to meet payment deadlines may result in being dropped from the program.

What is the Healthcare Regulatory Compliance Program? 

The HRC Program consists of coursework directed towards earning a Certificate of Completion in Healthcare Regulatory Compliance (16-19 credits).  There are very few programs in the United States available to fulfill the educational needs of this rapidly expanding career area and many employers attempt to fulfill this need with limited on-the-job training.  Government regulations are expanding at a staggering rate with significant penalties for non-compliance, so employees must be prepared with all the information necessary to perform legally. 

What is the primary goal of the program?

The primary goal of the program is to prepare health services employees of all types who have responsibility for the oversight and management of health care services or products regulated by state and federal laws. 

What skills can I learn in this program that will help me move into a healthcare regulatory compliance position?

This program provides a foundation for those wanting to move into a regulatory compliance position and adds depth to the knowledge of employees already working in the areas of risk management and legal compliance. The coursework offers an overview of the numerous agencies enacting regulations, moves into the ethical aspects of the regulations, covers the design and development of a compliance program in various types of settings and ends with working through actual case studies of compliance and non-compliance situations.

 After completing the program, what type of employment can I expect?

This coursework will provide you with skills to be entry level candidates for positions in various types of regulatory compliance and risk management settings.  This certificate will also add to the knowledge of individuals already working in the field to assist them in moving into more responsible compliance positions. 

Can I get college credit for what I already know or have done?

Yes! We offer credit for Prior Learning (CPL). We can assess your past courses for direct credit, and certain experiences, such as relevant work in an HCC 130 context, may also earn you credit towards your program. 

Where are the classes located and what times are they held? 

Classes are held fully online in an asynchronous format. This means students may log in, access instructional resources, and complete assignments at ANY time, on their own schedule.

Is the program recognized in the health services field?

Yes, it is recognized in the health services field as a necessary specialty area to help employees and employers understand and comply with the growing number of state and federal healthcare regulations.  Many students are funded by their employers to attend these courses.
