Former GateWay soccer player, Lesly Salazar, was named the KCAC Women's Soccer Newcomer of the Year for the 2014 season.

Salazar left GateWay to continue her education and soccer career at Sterling College in Wichita, Kansas. As a junior, she is working toward a degree in Psychology and has made a lasting impression on her new team as well as her old.

"It's always terrific to see a player move on from GateWay and have success at their new College or University." Head Coach Greg Johnson said.  "To see a young lady like Lesly Salazar move on to Sterling College and perform so well is a testament to her work ethic and determination to be the best she can be."

Johnson enjoyed coaching Salazar and commends her work ethic and drive.

"Lesly is one of the most competitive players I have had the opportunity to coach over the last 20 years and she is extremely deserving of this honor," Johnson said.
