Dr. Tom Nevill of GateWay Community College Selected for the Aspen Institute’s Rising Presidents Fellowship
The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program (Aspen) announced today that Dr. Tom Nevill, Vice President of Academic Affairs at GateWay Community College, is one of 40 leaders selected for the 2025-26 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship. Rigorously selected from among over 120 applicants, fellows will learn from—and apply to their own contexts—lessons from over a dozen years of Aspen research about how to lead an institution to higher and more equitable levels of student success.

GateWay Community College Awards Gene Haas Scholarships to CNC Machining Students
GateWay Community College proudly announces the recipients of the Gene Haas Scholarship for the Summer 2025 term. Thanks to the continued support of the Gene Haas Foundation, seven students enrolled in GateWay’s CNC Machining program at the Central City Campus have each been awarded a $1,000 scholarship to assist with tuition, textbooks, and essential program-related supplies.

Making Music Fest at the Phoenix Forge: Celebrating local hand-made music
The second annual Making Music Fest, hosted by the Phoenix Forge makerspace, is happening Friday, April 4, 2025 from 6-9:00 p.m. This free, all-ages event is a showcase of artists and musicians from across Arizona who are creating hand-crafted instruments to make music from traditional to experimental.

Civil Air Patrol’s Sky Harbor Squadron Cadets Take Top Honors in Cybersecurity Competition
Cadets from Civil Air Patrol’s Sky Harbor Squadron ranked first in Arizona in the All Service Division Gold Tier in the Air and Space Forces Association’s CyberPatriot competition. This was the first year the team reached the semifinals. The All Service Division includes high school students in the Civil Air Patrol, JROTC, or U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

GateWay Launches EmpowerED Fundraising Campaign

Dreams Become Realities for Local Job Seekers
On Thursday, October 17, 2024, hundreds of candidates visited GateWay Community College to seek out their dream jobs. Called the DREAM Job Fair, the event provides people living with disabilities an opportunity to have equal and fair access to local employers. DREAM was started in 2012 by William (Bill) Manson and Magellan Healthcare in Maricopa County.
