The event is designed to connect students and community members with training and career opportunities in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) industry — a field that continues to see high demand across Arizona and beyond.

The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program (Aspen) announced today that Dr. Tom Nevill, Vice President of Academic Affairs at GateWay Community College, is one of 40 leaders selected for the 2025-26 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship. Rigorously selected from among over 120 applicants, fellows will learn from—and apply to their own contexts—lessons from over a dozen years of Aspen research about how to lead an institution to higher and more equitable levels of student success.

GateWay Community College Awards Gene Haas Scholarships to CNC Machining Students
GateWay Community College proudly announces the recipients of the Gene Haas Scholarship for the Summer 2025 term. Thanks to the continued support of the Gene Haas Foundation, seven students enrolled in GateWay’s CNC Machining program at the Central City Campus have each been awarded a $1,000 scholarship to assist with tuition, textbooks, and essential program-related supplies.

Civil Air Patrol’s Sky Harbor Squadron Cadets Take Top Honors in Cybersecurity Competition
Cadets from Civil Air Patrol’s Sky Harbor Squadron ranked first in Arizona in the All Service Division Gold Tier in the Air and Space Forces Association’s CyberPatriot competition. This was the first year the team reached the semifinals. The All Service Division includes high school students in the Civil Air Patrol, JROTC, or U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

This bold initiative is a critical step toward ensuring that every student in Maricopa County has access to higher education and the opportunity to thrive in and beyond college.
