Follow these steps to enroll in the Healthcare Services Management program at GateWay Community College.

Step 1: Attend Mandatory Healthcare Virtual Information Session 

All applicants must attend a virtual information session before moving forward in the admissions process.

Meet with a Healthcare Advisor

Meeting with a Healthcare advisor is strongly recommended. You will receive instructions on how to schedule an advising appointment during the virtual information session.

Step 2: Complete Your College Admissions Application

If you’re new to GateWay or the Maricopa Community Colleges, or if you need to reapply, click the button below and follow the instructions to complete your admissions application:

  • New Students: Click "Join Now" to create an account.
  • Returning Students: Click "Log In" and enter your MEID and password. If you do not
    remember your MEID or password, select “Forgot your Username?” and/or “Forgot your
    Password?” for assistance.

* Students who complete the Health Services Management Associate’s Degree will automatically earn the Health Services Management Certificate.

Step 3: Request Transcripts

If you have completed previous college or university coursework, or if you plan to use your high school transcript for placement, you will need to request that your transcripts be sent directly from the institution to GateWay's Admissions, Records, and Registration Office.

Step 4: Enroll 

How to Enroll in Your Classes

  1. Use Find a Class to search for your courses and select Open Classes Only.
  2. Keep track of the section numbers for each course you plan to add.
  3. In your Student Center, click on the Manage Classes tile.
  4. Use Class Search and Enroll to complete your registration.

Step 5: Payment Options / Funding

You must have Financial Aid or a payment plan set up before your program start date.

Students who do not arrange payment in advance may be dropped from their classes for non-payment.

Important Reminders: 

★ Regularly check your Maricopa student email and Student Center for updates on payment balances and deadlines. 

★ If you’ve applied for financial aid, check for any pending "To Do List" items that may delay your award. 

★ Your seat in the program is not secured until your funding is confirmed. Failure to meet payment deadlines may result in being dropped from the program.

As a Health Services Manager, you will plan, organize, coordinate, and provide leadership within a variety of health services and business office settings. Many individuals begin in a team leader role and progress into positions with greater responsibility as they gain experience.

What is the primary goal of the program?

The primary goal of the program is to support health services employees who are currently in leadership roles or who aspire to move into them. The coursework helps students gain the knowledge and preparation needed for supervisory and managerial responsibilities.

What skills can I learn in this program that will help me move into a management position?

The program provides a strong foundation for entering management. Coursework includes an overview of the health services industry and the factors that influence it. You will learn how to:

  • Manage human resources through effective hiring practices, performance management, policy development, and supervisory functions
  • Strengthen written and verbal communication
  • Build problem-solving and decision-making skills

Students pursuing the Associate of Applied Science degree also gain skills in accounting principles, quality management, and basic computer operations.

Where are the classes located and what times are they held?

All classes are offered fully online in an asynchronous format. This allows students to log in, access course materials, and complete assignments at any time based on their own schedule.

How long does the AAS Degree program take to complete?

The Associate of Applied Science degree can be completed in as little as two years, depending on your course load and personal commitments.

After completing the program, what type of employment can I expect?

The coursework prepares you with the skills and knowledge needed to advance into leadership and supervisory roles within a variety of healthcare settings.

Is the program recognized in the health services field?

Yes. The program is well recognized, and graduates are employed in hospitals, physician offices, and many other healthcare facilities throughout the valley. Many employers also fund their employees to complete this program.
