Welcome to the GateWay Learning Center! We offer FREE in-person and online academic tutoring and a variety of learning support to enrolled students. The Learning Center is located on the second floor of the IE building in IE2108.
Student success is at the heart of our mission. We are here to:
- Empower all students to take control of their own learning.
- Provide a safe environment for asking questions, trying new approaches, and forming meaningful relationships with the college community.

Need help writing a paper but don’t have time to meet with a writing tutor? The Learning Center offers FREE online writing tutoring for all GateWay classes.

While we won’t correct your paper for you, we will provide helpful, instruction-aligned feedback on:

In addition to subject-based tutoring, you can schedule a consultation for strengthening your academic skills in:

- Memory improvement
We offer a variety of learning resources for you to use in the Learning Center, including:
- Anatomical models
- Microscopes and slides
- Study guides and handouts
You can use a laptop or our computer lab. All computers are equipped with educational software, internet access, Microsoft Office applications, and access to our printer.
We offer workshops each semester to help you in the areas of writing and study skills.
For Fall 2019, we are offering the following preparatory workshops:
Power Math Camp
Mon., July 29 through Thu. Aug. 1, 2019 // IE 2201
Refresh your skills and gain math confidence for any math class with our free, four-day workshop series. You can attend any day or level that fits your needs on a case-by-case basis. There are three levels of Power Math Camp:
Power Math Camp Basics, 9:00 am - 11:00 am each day
Ideal for: Students entering MAT 082, MAT 085, MAT 092, MAT 126, or MAT 146
Topics Covered: Fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios and proportions, measurement, basic geometry, basic statistics
Power Math Camp I, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm each day
Ideal for: Students entering MAT 122 or MAT 126
Prerequisite: Experience with topics from introductory algebra
Topics Covered: Order of operations, distributive property, combining like terms, evaluating expressions, solving linear equations and systems of linear equations; operations with polynomials
Power Math Camp II, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm each day
Ideal for: Students entering MAT 150 or higher
Prerequisite: Experience with topics from intermediate algebra
Topics Covered: Quadratic, rational, radical, exponential, and logarithmic expressions, equations, and functions

Make sure you’re ready for your Allied Health BIO class! Come to our FREE, three-day workshop series to help you strengthen the foundational lab, math, and chemistry skills (one covered each day) needed at the beginning of BIO 156, so you can succeed from early in the semester onwards.
