Nursing Student at GateWay Community College

You have done your research regarding a college program, looked at the alternatives and decided which college is the best in Arizona (we feel that is GateWay, of course!). Now it is time to move forward and enroll, but what are your next steps?

A number of points are important to keep in mind when thinking about getting started. For example, are you planning on using Financial Aid? If so, you may wish to start the process at least two months prior to your start date in order to complete your FAFSA in time. Also, are you new to college? You may need to take college placement or essential skills testing in order to enroll. While those first steps may seem a bit daunting, GateWay Community College has a number of resources to help you succeed. You can call (602) 286-8050 with questions, and we are here to support you through these steps.

Also knowing start dates are important. The upcoming start dates for our University Transfer and Occupational/Professional education credit programs are as follows:

The Fall 2016 semester classes begin Saturday, Aug. 20.  The semester formally ends Friday, Dec. 16.

The Spring 2017 semester classes begin Saturday, January 14, 2017. The semester ends Friday, May 12, 2017.

Summer 2017 semester classes begin Tuesday, May 30, 2017. The semester ends Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017.

The upcoming start dates for our various Trade and Technical Training clock hour programs are as follows:

Sept. 12, Sept. 26, Oct. 10, Oct. 24 and Nov. 7.

Keep in mind that you need to be enrolled prior to the first day of your start date, so be sure to plan accordingly. GateWay Community College also offers credit-hour courses that start throughout the fall semester. These courses are for shorter durations, but may meet more frequently. Depending on your schedule, you may find that some of our hybrid or online options fit your schedule better, too.

Need assistance with childcare or daycare? GateWay has the Children's Learning Center, which provides a low-cost alternative for students so they can attend college.
