As a community college, we make efforts every day to improve the lives of those in our community through education. However, some people in the Valley face an insecure future due to the challenges they face such as hunger, homelessness and financial instability.
Together we can help make a difference through our participation in the 2023 Valley of the Sun United Way (VSUW) Giving Campaign. This year, the Campaign will run from Monday, October 16 through Friday, November 3.
You can pledge any amount directly via MCCCD’s dedicated ePledge portal. Or, you can participate in our online auction.

Can I designate my gift to a specific agency?
Yes, you can designate a gift to specific agencies. Here is a list of United Way partner agencies (click here). When filling out the online form, you will first need determine the total amount of your gift. Then, under the "Direct your gift" section you will be able to designate to which agency or community objective you would like your gift to support. If your agency is a partner agency, you can search for them in the search box and enter the amount that you would like to designate to them. If your agency does not appear in the search results, use the Write-Ins section to add the agency. Keep in mind that you may direct a portion of your contribution to support any 501 (c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt organization with a qualifying health and human service program (subject to verification). **Contributions may revert to Valley of the Sun United Way if the designated agency does not qualify based on the above guidelines or cannot be located. In order to keep administrative costs low, please limit restricted contributions to $25 or more. Finally, keep in mind that to make the biggest impact on our community, gifts to Valley of the Sun United Way help create systematic change. Donations made to Helping the Working Poor Fund are eligible for a dollar for dollar tax credit of up to $800.00 when filing jointly and $400.00 if filing individually, and Qualifying Foster Care Agencies are eligible for a dollar for dollar tax credit of up to $1000.00 when filing jointly and $800.00 if filing individually. Can I support GateWay students?
Yes, keep in mind that gifts to Valley of the Sun United Way or to any of the three community objectives help empower those in our community, some of which attend our college. You can also designate ACE as a community objective. District will designate the gifts made to ACE by GateWay employees to GateWay ACE, which makes it easy to support those Achieving a College Education. Donating to the Greatest Needs Fund is also an option, which allows GateWay to react quickly to urgent needs of our students.
