Follow these steps to enroll in the Clinical Neurodiagnostic Technology program at GateWay Community College.
Step 1: Attend Mandatory Healthcare Virtual Information Session
All applicants must attend a virtual information session before moving forward in the admissions process.

Meet with a Healthcare Advisor
Meeting with a Healthcare advisor is strongly recommended. You will receive instructions on how to schedule an advising appointment during the virtual information session.
Step 2: Complete Your Admissions Application
If you’re new to GateWay or the Maricopa Community Colleges, or if you need to reapply, click the button below and follow the instructions to complete your admissions application:

Students must complete the following courses with a grade of A or B before program admission

Official Transcripts
Submit your official transcripts for all previous college coursework to the Admissions, Records, and Registration Office.
Please note that the Clinical Neurodiagnostic Technology Program at GateWay Community College does not accept credits for experiential learning for the required NDT courses.
Step 4: Program Application and Checklist

Email the completed document and any questions regarding your application status to [email protected] using your official Maricopa student email address.
After you are admitted into the program, you will receive a welcome email with next steps and important onboarding information.
Step 5: Background Check, Fingerprints, and CPR
After you are accepted into the program, you will receive instructions on how to complete the MCCCD Background Check and will need to present a copy of the Level-One Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC).
To begin the program, you must:
- Obtain a valid Level-One AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Pass the MCCCD Background Check
- Present a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR Certification.
Important Notes
- Students cannot be placed in clinical experiences without meeting these requirements.
- You are responsible for all associated costs.
- It is strongly recommended that you apply for the fingerprint clearance card early. Please allow at least eight weeks for processing.
- The Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is valid for six years from the date of issue.
Step 6: Payment Options / Funding
You must have Financial Aid or a payment plan set up before your program start date.
Students who do not arrange payment in advance may be dropped from their classes for non-payment.
Important Reminders:
★ Regularly check your Maricopa student email and Student Center for updates on payment balances and deadlines.
★ If you’ve applied for financial aid, check for any pending "To Do List" items that may delay your award.
★ Your seat in the program is not secured until your funding is confirmed. Failure to meet payment deadlines may result in being dropped from the program.

Study brain wave patterns to support diagnosis of epilepsy, brain injuries, and other neurological conditions. - Polysomnography (PSG)
Conduct and analyze sleep studies used to identify and provide therapy for sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and narcolepsy. - Evoked Potentials and Nerve Conduction Studies
Learn foundational concepts used to assess sensory and motor pathway function in neurological evaluations. - Advanced Diagnostic Techniques

What are the essential job functions and physical requirements of a Neurodiagnostic Technologist?
Neurodiagnostic Technologists must be able to:
- Demonstrate manual and physical dexterity to operate neurodiagnostic equipment and troubleshoot technical issues
- Use fine motor skills to manage small devices and electrodes
- Maintain visual and auditory acuity to accurately monitor and analyze neurodiagnostic tests and respond to patient needs

Students who are unable to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodations, may be unable to safely meet clinical requirements and may not be successful in the program.
What if I experience extenuating circumstances during clinical placement?
In the event of extenuating circumstances, including but not limited to pregnancy, medical conditions, or personal emergencies, adjustments to clinical hours may be considered by the program director. Prolonged absences may require an individualized plan for program completion, which could result in delays in graduation.
It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with the program director to determine the appropriate course of action. All program and institutional graduation requirements, as outlined in the college catalog, must still be completed prior to graduation.
What credentials and certifications will I be eligible for after completing the program?
Graduates of an accredited Associate Degree program in Clinical Neurodiagnostic Technology are eligible to sit for the following professional credentialing exams:
R. EEG T.
Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (ABRET)
Validates proficiency in performing electroencephalography (EEG)
Requires completion of an ABRET-recognized program
RPSGT
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT)
Specializes in sleep studies and polysomnography
Requires clinical training or accredited program completion and CPR/BLS certification
Is financial aid or scholarship assistance available?
Yes. Financial assistance is available to eligible GateWay Community College students and may include grants, scholarships, employment opportunities, or loans. Aid may come from a single source or be combined from multiple sources, depending on student eligibility, financial need, packaging policy, and available funds.

Can I enter this program or profession if I have a criminal record?
Clinical partnerships require students to hold a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and to not appear on the federal Office of Inspector General (OIG) Exclusion List. Students who cannot obtain either of these clearances will be unable to participate in clinical rotations, which are required for program completion.
