Ifrah Botan

As Ifrah Botan surveyed her options for college, she knew she wanted to find a college, and a program, that aligned with her ambitions and her dreams.

“I decided to attend GateWay because it offers one of the best nursing programs in Arizona,” Botan said. “Before I came to the college, I attended GateWay Early College High School. I told my advisor I was interested in nursing and was given the opportunity to join the nursing assistant program at the college. After participating in the program, I decided I would pursue nursing school and was admitted into the LPN program.”

While at GateWay, Botan has already shown the drive and initiative it takes to become a nurse.

“I decided to go into the practical nursing program because I wanted to do something that is challenging, interesting and makes a difference in people's lives daily. In nursing school, you work with many aspects of patient care, and I enjoy learning about it.”

Her experience at GateWay has helped her during her journey. From the resources like the learning center, and focusing on her studying, she has learned skills she plans to use in the next phases of her life.

“My future goals are to become an RN and work in pediatrics. Later on in life, I would like to go to Somali and open up a clinic to provide care to women and those in need,” Botan said.

With goals like that, this soon-to-be GateWay graduate is definitely poised to make a global impact.
