Several students and staff of the GateWay Community College nursing program were recently featured on PBS NewsHour, a nationwide news program. The segment, Rethinking College, highlights the increased demand for healthcare and nursing programs at colleges nationwide through the pandemic.
When asked to explain students' increased demand for healthcare and nursing programs at GateWay, Dr. Margi Schultz, director of nursing, said, "They really want to help people, and they want to make a difference and feel that this is a way to do that."
Debi Kinder, a GateWay Community College nursing student who starting the program during the pandemic, added what she was most excited about in becoming a nurse, "Being able to help and interact with patients, and get that quality time with them."
