HVAC Residential Installation and Service Technician
The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in HVAC Residential Installation and Service Technician is designed to provide entry-level training in the areas of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) systems, electricity, electronic controls, and general repair. Students will have the opportunity to learn skills necessary to assess and solve problems quickly. A Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Commercial Air Conditioning/Refrigeration/Facilities, an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration/Facilities, and a Certificate of Competency (CCT) in HVAC Residential Installation and Service Technician are also available.
Details
Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses within the program.
In the Required Courses area, the options for OSH105AA, OSH106AA or proof of OSHA 30-hour card must be the in-person format.
Completion of the District Placement Exam in Mathematics is required before the start of the Residential and Light Commercial Air Conditioning program.

- Demonstrate proficient use of tools and equipment in the installation and repair of system components for HVAC.
- Perform HVAC electrical and mechanical installations, establishing relationships between multiple sources of information and theoretical knowledge.
- Perform predictive and preventative maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and standards.
- Diagnose system faults in residential HVAC equipment.
- Apply logical reasoning to perform installation and maintenance of HVAC systems.
- Interpret technical documents to perform a task on residential and light commercial HVAC equipment.
- Demonstrate appropriate oral, written, and visual communication with varied audiences in the HVAC/R environment.
- Work within a cross-disciplinary team structure, identifying industry roles.
- Demonstrate work quality in a timely manner.

Course Sequence by Term
